Mexico Yucatan Peninsula

A Guide to Uxmal

Uxmal is an archaeological area perfect for those who are fascinated by Maya and culture. It is located in the Yucatan peninsula 78km south of Merida and is predominantly Mayan ruins. The town itself is fairly small though there are a number of inexpensive hotels for which to stay in as well as some restaurants, which serve many of the dishes local to the area.

The site has some fantastic temples and a fascinating history and legends especially of how the temple had been constructed. Uxmal is perfect for a day out or longer for those wh are interested in archaeology or Mayan civilisation and is well worth a trip if you are in the area.
