A Guide to Oaxaca
Found in the south of Mexico and is surrounded by valleys. The mountain ranges keep the climate of the area cool and fresh at 18°C. Oaxaca is another town, which has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This is due to the architecture around the town like the Cathedral, the Theatre and the beautiful Basilica of Solitude and other 19-century colonial architecture.
The town markets are fantastic offering a wide range of arts and crafts unique to the area such as swords, woollen clothing and wonderful black pottery from the different regions. Also at the market there are also different culinary delights to savour such as local cheeses and Mezcal, which is a local alcoholic, made from the Maguey plant.
Around the area there are many archaeological sites including many pre Spanish buildings. There are many quaint hotels in the region and a range of restaurants with many cuisines from the area. There are also many parks around the area, which have fantastic scenery and are perfect for long walks and make Oaxaca one of the prettiest areas in the region.
