A Guide to Ixtapa

Ixtapa is known as one of the best and most beautiful beach resorts in Mexico and is located 151 miles north west of Acapulco. The state is sandwiched between the Sierra Madre Mountains and the Pacific Ocean. There is a wonderful contrast in feelings as the town has a particular rural air to it though is a modern tourist resort which has many excellent hotels and beaches with fantastic activities readily available.

The water sports and activities open to tourists is outdone by no other resorts as the beaches have perfect waves for wind surfing and you can also go scuba diving in the coral reef. There is also the chance to go to the marina to hire one of the boats in tow there. Sailfish is extremely common to the area so fishing is very popular here and so much so that the Zihuatanejo Annual Sailfish Tournament is hosted in May.

Though if this is not your thing there are many attractions away from the beach with the surrounding area being a perfect place for eco tourists to visit as well as campers. There is also a chance to observe the wildlife of the area like crocodiles and Golden eagles.

And if this interests so much you can actually take part in wildlife conservation activities helping preserve the wildlife and keep it safe in its habitat, like many species of endangered turtles. Ixtapa has it all and is the perfect holiday destination.
