A Guide to Montecatini Terme

Found west of Pistoia this is perhaps the most glamorous spa town of Italy. The area is known as the ‘Valley of the Mists’ due to the large number of steaming spas to be found. Montecatini Terme itself has nine spas available for visitors to enjoy the curative powers of the natural waters. The Montecatini Baths are housed in buildings of great architectural importance such as the Tamerici and Excelsior establishments and set within the splendid parkland of Parcodelle delle Terme.

The historic town also houses the prestigious Academy of Art: the Accademia d’Arte di Montecatini. The towns fame has been maintained for centuries and has attracted visitors of great importance such as with Gioacchino Rossigni, Giacomo Puccini and Giuseppe Verdi to name only a few.
