A Guide to Chinchon
Located in the region of Madrid the city of Chinchon is a stunning overshadowed by its famous neighbour. Its most famous site is its irregular medieval square which is formed by the houses with their balconies and is the site that is used for the many parades and festivals that are hosted in the city.
The beautiful church built in 1828 hosts the stunning painting of La Asuncion de la Virgen by the acclaimed artist Goya. Many of the monuments in the area have been destroyed and burned to the ground by Napoleons forces such as the 15th century castle which had been rebuilt once before was sacked and burned to the ground. The mansions of the noble are in the town centre and are certainly worth a look.
The night life in the area is one of the best in the region with the restaurants serving delicious regional cuisines and the bars and clubs going on late into the night challenging even the most ardent partygoer. The city is a fantastic place to come and visit especially as it is underrated due to the major tourism hotspot 30 miles away.
