A Guide to Marseille
Marseille is the largest and most populated city in France behind Paris. The city though may not but the most beautiful architecturally but what it lacks in beauty it makes up for in character and charm. The people that live in the city are amongst the nicest in the country. They are very relaxed and will openly talk with anybody about their views and their opinion on the Cote D’Azur.
Unlike many of the cities in France Marseille has one of the longest histories in the country however this history has not been full of glory but of much suffering and the city was very much the attention of many attacks on the region. Despite this however the city has come through all this and is still one of the most powerful cities today.
The central point of the city is the Vieux Port as the city is divided up into sixteen regions, each connected through a series of axes. The city has a brilliant shopping district which is located to the south of the Quartier Belsunce.
The city has a vibrant and colourful nightlife with fantastic restaurants serving regional cuisines and delicious traditional French meals and there are also many bars and clubs which party long into the early hours of the morning.
Marseille is a perfect place to spend a few days in the region and though it is not the most spectacular place to visit the people and its street life make it a must place to visit.
