France Normandy

A Guide to Rouen

Rouen is the capital of upper Normandy and is one of the oldest cities in France with a long and colourful history. The city dates back to Roman times and was also the setting for Joan of Arcs execution. The city has been repeatedly been attacked and devastated and a lot of money has been used to try and restore the city.

The town has spent a lot of money on restoring and building many monuments in the area and there are quite possibly to many to visit unless you have a long time to spend in the city.

There are also many restaurants and bars in the city serving quality regional food and also the nightlife in Rouen is fantastic and perfect for those who enjoy partying into the early hours.

Rouen is a beautiful city and one that simply cannot be ignored. It is a must visit venue that sums up the region perfectly and is a city that comes second only to Paris, Lyon, and Marseille.
