A Guide to Nancy

Like many of the cities in either Alsace or Lorraine Nancy has a mixed heritage between German and French. Being an issue of contention over whom it should belong to it became under French rule after 1870 and is a surviving monument to mid-eighteenth century architecture thanks o the last duke of Lorraine who completely remodelled the town and making it unique to the area.

The city has many attractions in the area such as the Place Stanislas, which has a beautiful statue in the centre of Stanislas who was responsible for the laying of the Place. There are many museums in the town, which charts the rise of the town, region and has many art exhibitions of work from the 18th and 19th Century.

There is also some stunning architecture in the town such as the Porte de la Craffe, and the Palais du Government which used to be the Palace of the Duke of Lorraine. The town also has a fantastic and worth exploring and are fantastic especially when in bloom in the summer.

The city is a stunning example of the beauty of French cities and is a must visit for anyone in the area.
