A Guide to Vannes
Vannes is located in southern Brittany 13 miles east of Auray and is the main tourist town in this region. There are many sites in the town such as the Musee de Vannes which has held many different roles in its time including prison, high court and revolutionary tribunal to name but a few. There is the beautiful Cathedrale St Pierre is more daunting than beautiful though it does not have conventional beauty it has character and is visually striking.
There is also the Musee Archeologique, which is world renowned for its collection of pre-historic artefacts. There is also the aquarium and the Parc de Golfe, which is home to many different species of Tropical Fish such as a four-eyed fish, and a crocodile that was found in the sewers of Paris and it shares its tank with a school of Piranhas.
There is lots to keep the whole family entertained in Vannes and is well worth a stop off if you are in the vicinity of the town.
