A Guide to Bergerac

Bergerac historically used to be a successful wine port in the Dordogne, and is till the major market centre of maize, wine and tobacco. This relationship with tobacco and the city is emphasised with the musee du Tabac with a detailed history of the weed and many extra features as well.

There is also the Musee de la Batellerie, which displays the barrel making and shows the history of the town and its past in river trading. The town’s most famous fictional character known throughout the world is Cyrano de Bergerac whose fame has put the name of the town on the map.

The town is a beautiful picturesque quaint area to visit and is a must stop off pace while in the area.
