A Guide to Mugello
Mugello is the rich fertile land found on the Tuscan side of the Apennine ridge. Being only a few kilometers from Florence, the buildings reflect works by some of the great Florentine architects. The towns of the area have ancient origins and many celebrated names were born in Mugello including innovative artists such as Giotto and Beato Angelico, whilst the wealthy families of the Medici dynasty and the Lorenesi family originated from here too.
The area offers a great variety of attractions from countryside activities such as fishing, horse riding, mountain biking, and trekking to the town’s localities: Barberino di Mugello, Borgo San Lorenzo, Firenzuola, Marradi, Palazzuolo sul Senio, San Piero a Sieve, Scarperia, Vaglia and Vicchio.
