A Guide to Cannes

Cannes fame throughout the world has hinged on one event, ‘The Cannes Film Festival’. The festival is seen as the leading festival in world cinema drawing in more big name stars and films than any other festival in the world.

The town is split into the Old and New Towns, the Old Town is known as Le Suquet, which stands on top of the hill Le Suquet and has a panoramic view over the beach down below. On top of the hills there is the Chapelle Ste-Anne, which used to be the residence of the monks who used to live in the town in the 11th Century. There is also the Musee de la Castre, which houses many musical instruments throughout history and from all over the world.

The most beautiful beach in the area is the La Croisette, which is a long Boulevard along the beach home to the many stunning hotels in the area. It is along the beaches owned by these hotels that you are more likely to see the famous faces who grace the big screen.

There are many shopping area perfect for catching up with the latest fashions that the celebrities that visit the area are currently wearing.

Cannes is very much a place to come if you want to see the area that the rich and famous come to relax. If you are looking for a quiet place to unwind with no worries of having crowds forming to see the famous face then a quieter and more tranquil venue might be the best option.
