Description

Located an hour south of Salt Lake City in the shadow of 12,000 foot Mount Timpanogos, this resort was founded by actor Robert Redford, who in 1969 purchased a small ski area and thousands of acres of surrounding wilderness to develop a sustainable community for the arts and a vast wilderness preserve. Structures were built with ecologically sound construction methods and materials, and the ethos is one of respect for the fragile mountain environment. Three clusters of privately owned cabins make up the resort, along with community buildings that include two restaurants and a bar, a full service health spa, an arts center and amphitheater, stables and outfitters, and several event venues of up to 4,200 square feet. This base area anchors 450 acres of downhill skiing and many miles of cross country and snowshoe trails, most of which convert to hiking, mountain biking, or horseback riding trails in warm months.
