Location. A Victorian era hotel built in 1909, The St. Anthony A Wyndham Historic Hotel is one block from the San Antonio (Texas) Riverwalk and three blocks from The Alamo. Buckhorn Museum is two blocks away and the Rivercenter Mall is four blocks from the hotel. La Villita, the site of old San Antonio, is six blocks from the property.
Hotel Features. Chefs at the Madrid Room prepare Spanish influenced and Southwestern cuisine, with a weekly lunch pasta buffet and Sunday Champagne Brunch. Pete's Pub is a traditional Victorian pub serving cocktails and light fare in an elegant atmosphere. The hotel hosts more than 22,000 square feet of event space, including a 3,600 square foot ballroom, an open air rooftop terrace and 22 conference rooms. High speed Internet access is available throughout event areas and in the on site business center. Overlooking the city's downtown area via the sixth floor terrace are a rooftop pool, a spa tub and a fitness center with cardiovascular and strength training equipment.
Guestrooms. The hotel's 352 guestrooms are polished in Queen Anne style décor, with antique replicas and custom tailored bedspreads and window dressings. Rooms feature four poster queen beds and chenille sofas. Brass lamps illuminate in room writing desks. High speed Internet access is also available. Each room comes equipped with video game consoles and cable television. Restored black and white tiled baths have pedestal sinks.
Expert Tip. This hotel salutes world history with exquisite French Empire antiques and original paintings by Remington, Cartier and DeYoung in the lobby. Outside Pete's Pub, a black and white photo displays Judy Garland, Mickey Rooney, Shirley Temple, Fred Astaire, and Rita Hayworth visiting the St. Anthony Hotel. Other lobby photos include a snapshot of Princess Grace Kelly of Monaco, and one of John Wayne taken during the filming of The Alamo. The guest register reveals famous signatures from decades past.
