Description

Location. The Westgate Hotel pays homage to an anteroom in Versaille, France, by transferring the castle's stylistic beauty to this elegant property in downtown San Diego, California. Located within two blocks of the renowned Horton Plaza and the historic Gaslamp Quarter, this hotel is one mile from Balboa Park and the San Diego Zoo.
Hotel Features. Guests enter a world of opulence where the gilded lobby is furnished with French and Flemish tapestries, Persian rugs and a grand staircase that plateaus adjacent to one of the first five pianos made by Steinway. The hotel's European refinement attracts artists, dignitaries and celebrities with property amenities that include weekday formal teas. The on site Westgate Fitness & Spa Center also sets higher standards by offering personal training, elite spa services and professionally instructed Pilates and yoga classes. Westgate Hotel strives to provide superior services to traveling executives by offering a complete business center, event catering and 17 meeting rooms with high speed Internet access. Should the work day advance into extended hours, complimentary wireless Internet access is available in the restaurants and bars. Le Fontainebleau, the hotel's flagship dining establishment, is applauded for its romantic atmosphere and contemporary French cuisine. The Café Westgate attracts Civic Center theatergoers, who tout the pasta dishes and T bone steaks while The Gourmet Wine and Delicatessen imports chocolates and international treats.

Guestrooms. This non smoking hotel houses 223 spacious guestrooms with spectacular city or harbor views. Beds are dressed in plush, down bedding, and imported European furnishings include handcrafted Italian armoires, marble topped nightstands and finely brocade fabrics. Minibars, DVD players, laptop compatible safes, and Gilchrist & Soames toiletries add to modern guestroom comfort.

Expert Tip. The hotel is graced with European antiques, including a seven foot long, 18th century desk used by the concierge. Built by Henri Dasson, this desk is the twin of another located in the king's bedchamber in Versailles.
