Description |
Location. Opened in 2004, this former orphanage and restored 16th century aristocratic villa is set in lush landscaped gardens surrounded by Tuscan countryside and situated nine kilometres from Florence. Vespucci Airport (FLR) is seven kilometres from the hotel , around 10 minutes by car.
Hotel Features. A long tree lined driveway flanked by lush gardens leads guests up to the main building where a discreet entrance opens into the smart high ceilinged lobby area. During the summer months, guests can soak up the sun around the outdoor pool on sun loungers, or take refuge with a drink under parasols while enjoying panoramic views of the surrounding Tuscan hills. A peaceful garden with ponds, fountains and lush greenery is also available to help guests unwind.
The Granducato Hotel's restaurant, Locando Toscana, has a farmhouse atmosphere with exposed beams and brick, red tiled floors low lit with three large chandeliers, and more contemporary touches. A menu of Tuscan specialities accompanied by a large section of Italian and international wines is served.
Guestrooms. The Granducato Hotel features 60 guestrooms spread over the two floors of the main property and several annex buildings. All rooms blend smart, contemporary decor with wooden flooring, modern art prints, and a mixture of chic modern furnishings with marble insets and traditional Tuscan style pieces. Beds feature a choice of pillows, large padded headboards and premium cotton sheets and duvets. In room entertainment is provided by 21 inch televisions with satellite channels and pay movies, while refreshments are available from minibars. Dial up ports provide Internet access and laptops can be stored in safes. Travertino marble bathrooms all provide hair dryers, bathrobes, slippers, and toiletries.
Expert Tip. Visitors interested in sampling some of the region's wine can arrange visits to local producers for wine tasting. The hotel also hosts events where guests can sample a range of local farm produce.

Directions |
The hotel operates a shuttle service to and from the centre of Florence (seven days a week; 5 EUR per person a one way). Taxis are available from the airport and charge in the region of 15 20 EUR to the hotel. Taxis to and from Santa Maria Novella station in the centre of Florence should charge around 30 EUR.
Driving directions: From the airport, take the A1 motorway and follow signs for the hotel.
